Mayor Bettencourt's Summer Concert Series Returns to Leather City Common
Summer nights in Peabody are about to get a lot more musical. The city has announced the return of its free Summer Concert Series, a longtime community tradition presented by Mayor Ted Bettencourt that fills Leather City Common with live music, lawn chairs, and neighbors catching up under the evening sky.
This year's series runs for six Sundays, from July 12 through August 16, with each show taking place from 6 to 8 p.m. at Leather City Common, located at 73 Lowell Street. As always, admission and parking are free, and the whole family is welcome.
This Year's Lineup
- Sunday, July 12 — Decades of Rock
- Sunday, July 19 — The Rockery
- Sunday, July 26 — 24 Karat Funk
- Sunday, August 2 — Go Your Own Way
- Sunday, August 9 — Emergency Contact Band
- Sunday, August 16 — Lisa Love Experience — Series Finale & Fireworks
Six bands, six very different sounds — from classic rock and funk to acoustic and cover-band favorites — mean there's a little something for every kind of music lover this summer.
A Grand Finale to Close Out the Summer
The season wraps up on August 16 with the ever-popular Lisa Love Experience, and this year the closing show doubles as a celebration: the city is capping off the series with a fireworks display, sending the summer off with one last bang. It's shaping up to be the can't-miss night of the series, so residents are encouraged to arrive early to grab a good spot.
Bring the Whole Crew
City officials are encouraging residents to bring chairs, blankets, family, and friends for an evening of live music and community spirit — the kind of low-key, feel-good summer tradition that's become a staple for Peabody families. Grab dinner beforehand, pack a picnic, or just show up and soak in the atmosphere; either way, it's a great excuse to get outside on a summer evening.
As with any outdoor event, concerts are weather permitting, so it's worth keeping an eye on the city's website or social media pages for any last-minute changes ahead of each show.
Plan Your Summer Around It
Whether you catch one concert or all six, Mayor Bettencourt's Summer Concert Series is a reminder of what makes Peabody's downtown special — free entertainment, a beautiful common, and a whole community coming together to enjoy it. Mark your calendars, and we'll see you on the lawn.
